The past months

Formula: Stephen went to the Formula SAE West competition June 11-17th. They did really well for being a second year team. They finished 4th in Design but then 21st or something overall (out of 60 teams). Unfortunately, they were unable to complete the endurance race because of an electrical issue but I believe everyone was satisfied with the overall results considering.

After coming home from the Formula competition Stephen had 3 days of school left. He was able to complete all of his last homework assignments, class project, last test and final in Kinematics as well as take the final for his Independent Study History class. This all finished Wednesday. Thursday the movers came and Friday morning we flew to Minnesota.

The trip to Minnesota was interesting. We almost missed our flight to Denver (it was delayed slightly so we made it). In Denver, after we boarded the plane a trainee for the airline hit an engine with the luggage loading truck. This caused the flight to be canceled ;_;. After a LONG wait in the customer service line (since the entire plane had to rebook) we got a flight going to Minneapolis leaving at 4pm (rather than the 8:30am flight that had been canceled). So, it was a long wait but we finally made it to Minnesota.

Since arriving in Minnesota we've been able to get decently settled. All of our belongings arrived about a week after we got here and is now taking up a lot of space in the basement. We've also been decorating the nursery (which used to be the "blue bedroom"). The walls are a cream... with a hint of pink rather than yellow and we got all new outlets and switches (white ones and the old ones were spray painted blue). We're almost done. The last bit is doing the closet. I'm putting shelves in so that I can store all the baby stuff in there. It's looking pretty though. It'll look really gorgeous once I have my furniture. (My dad's being awesome and building me a crib and changing table out of real wood.)

I'm nearing delivery time (38 weeks now). Hopefully this baby comes around the due date since my mom and sister are coming out, and my sister has to leave the 8th of September to go school in Idaho. So everyone pray that she's cooperative! I'm amazed by how large I am... and how much weight I've gained (~40 lbs). You really don't think you could possibly get any bigger... and then low and behold a couple days later you are! I found a really good midwife out here. Well, I like her in my check ups at least. She's very positive and has a firm belief in "birth is natural" but is there to support a mother in whatever decision she has about medical intervention. We'll see how the birth goes...

Speaking of birth. Heidi finally had her baby this morning (11 days over due... but a healthy 8lb 1oz baby boy). She invited me to come to it (not to help out... as I can't bend over a birthing tub very easily if at all), but she said it really helped to see Sarah give birth before she had Madison. I watched Summer's birth last year, and this was a completely different experience. I can't say it calmed me at all. But I suppose it's good to know what there is to expect... Labor and Delivery is no cupcake. I am much more affirmed to practice my hypnobirthing materials.

On a completely different subject. Stephen and I bought a car in July. It's a 2007 Honda Cr-V EX, black. I love it. It's also a huge sign of freedom from the house (as I was feeling trapped since I would have to borrow someone's car to go anywhere). It's so much better to drive than the Camry (poor Stephen gets to drive that to work). I love being higher up again. I felt so vulnerable in a car, plus it was stick and I'm kind of over stick especially with a kid on the way.

Well, I'll have to post pictures some other time. I'm on the laptop and the pictures are all on the desktop and for whatever reason I can't seem to make the network work correctly.
