In our house!

We have moved into our new home!

On Thursday we were to close on the house, but because of someone somewhere at Wells Fargo (the bank that owned the house) hadn't signed the HUD settlement... we ended up not closing until Friday afternoon. This was annoying but... we got it in the end.

On Friday, Shauna, Tamara and two women from our new ward (Plymouth) helped me clean so that we wouldn't be sharing the house with a lot of dead bugs and other things that show up in 2 1/2 year vacant homes. That night Stephen and I moved our bed and a few other things over so we could sleep at the new house. It was a long night. It took us both a couple hours to fall asleep because of all the different noises. And our neighbors (a couple of 20 year olds renting) had a party going on across the street.

On Saturday we moved the rest of our stuff. I had forgotten how much stuff we have. I mean we had a pile of boxes in the basement that had never been opened when we moved into the Smiths last June, but just the little things in the two bedrooms ended up being a lot! So the move wasn't nearly as put together and organized as I would've liked but with Mark's truck & trailer, the Smith mini van and our CR-V we got everything over in one trip.

I'm slowly unpacking our stuff. I've sort of come to a standstill, however, since we don't have many furniture items to put things. We did buy a couch and kitchen table so that at least we could sit and eat. But our clothes have no where to go since the closets are slightly small and we don't own a dresser.

But life is going well, and Samantha is adjusting to her new surroundings. Poor girl, in the past month she's gone to Delaware, back to Minnesota, back to Delaware, back to Minnesota and now a new house in Minnesota. I think she's feeling very put out so she's refusing to eat solids and will only nurse (and eat oatmeal), and she hates when I walk away into another room. But she seems to be doing better today.

Right now, as far as improvements to the house, we're focusing on the outside. We swept the driveway (and garage) and started raking and weeding the front. It's slowly beginning to look like someone actually lives here. And the neighbors are overjoyed about that.

I'll post some pictures when I find our camera... and the cord to upload pictures from the camera. I've seen it here... so it's somewhere around here.

Congrats on getting into your house. I'm jealous! Thanks for your comments on my blog. Sometimes these decisions are tough, as I'm sure you know. Samantha is beautiful!
