This past weekend was General Conference, so we mostly hung out at our house and watched it and continued some family traditions. Samantha happened to find an old Halloween costume in her closet and decided that she was a “Butterfly Bee'” and ran around flapping her wings (she’d reach her arms back and flap the wings). She also insisted that Clara wore the other Halloween costume: a kitty. Sammi wore her outfit pretty much all weekend, I took Clara out of hers after some pictures because they are quite warm.
One of our “traditions” (or at least something we WANT to be our tradition) is doing a meal in a Dutch Oven. Last conference we had some friends over and called it our “Dutch Oven Conference”, this year we had too much stuff surrounding the weekend (including a nephew’s baptism and Stephen being in school) and so it didn’t happen. I did grab some ribs that were on sale, and we tried making some BBQ ribs again. Unfortunately, Stephen let them cook too long and they got burned :( The unburned parts were still good though!
Recently, we started getting the Friend magazine for Samantha. In the April edition there was an recipe for Bunny Buns. Because the April edition actually came mid-March, Samantha had been begging for WEEKS to make some bunny buns! So, I decided we could make them as a special treat for Conference. She absolutely loved them, especially that you twist them up to look like a bunny with a tail on top and she insisted that I make eyes and a nose for the bunny so I improvised with sprinkles. This might become a new food tradition during Conference for us.
