Daddy-Daughter Campout

Samantha and I went on our first Daddy-daughter campout this weekend. I've mentioned my intentions to a few people over the past week and their responses are generally, "Oh, you'll be there for 3 hours...at least it's close enough for you to drive home!" or "You're crazy to take a toddler, I guess you just don't know any better."

Well ha! We did it and we enjoyed it! The weather was generally aweful; cloudy/drizzling whenever we were awake, and it poured and thundered during the night. Despite this, we came prepared and had a good time cooking our camp food and Sammi enjoyed hanging out with all the other girls (closest in age was ~9 I think).

We made grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for dinner. We also cooked biscuits on a stick.

We stayed up late by the fire. I think we made it to bed by 11pm.

One of the girls brought some popcorn to pop on the fire.

More chillin'

Dad made omelates and sausage for breakfast. Yum!

Overall, I'm very proud of Sammi. She didn't burn herself at all, ate plenty of food, and even slept through the night despite the lightning, thunder, and rain. And I enjoyed spending some daddy time with her all to myself and being able to give Charisse a well-earned break.

She looks absolutely delighted to be there. Good job. We have taken many toddlers camping.. they always love it. It is the adults who stress about everything. Good job.
