Clara hits 4 months

July has gotten away with me.  I was looking back at pictures we’ve taken this month and realized the only picture I’ve taken of Clara this month is this one at Willard’s baptism.

For some reason I just didn’t take out my camera this month and she’s nearing 5 months already!   When Samantha was 3 1/2-4 months old we had some professional photographs taken (which apparently I never posted… oops) while in Delaware for Christmas.  We had planned to do a photoshoot of our own but it has yet to happen.  I also haven’t gotten around to printing out Clara’s birth announcements that my brother made for me.  Is it too late to send birth announcements out when the baby is nearly 5 months old?  Or do you have like a 6 month window?

Anyway, despite the lack of photographic evidence.  Clara is continuing to grow and develop.  Here are her stats with Sammi for comparison in parenthesis.

Height: 26 1/2 in (26in) 
Weight: 14 lbs 12 oz (17 lbs 3 oz)
Head 41.7cm (42.3cm)

Apparently, Clara’s grown 3 1/2 inches these last 2 months (2 1/2 months really as I couldn’t get in closer to her birthday) and is just as tall as her sister was!  I was quite shocked, but it makes a bit of sense as some of her 3-6 month footies have seemed a bit tight length wise (I thought they had shrunk).  Her 3-6 month pant waists are barely beginning to fit, however.   I’ve got  myself a string bean.

Developmentally, Clara is totally ready to sit on her own.  She does great with a little support and I won’t be surprised if she starts being steady in the next month.  She rolls over from her back to her front all the time and then is mad that no one is entertaining her once she’s on her tummy.  She also is becoming interested in her toys (yay!) which is another reason she gets upset once she rolls over while on her play mat, she can’t see them anymore.  She drools by the gallon and I’m beginning to remember to put a bib on her so she doesn’t go through too many outfits in one day.  Baby Oatmeal is beginning to be a semi-regular occurrence in her diet as well.  In general she’s a happy go lucky girl and will smile at anyone that smiles at her.
