Last night we had the privilege to go see Sesame Street Live. Our friend, Laurel, was recently on tour with them as “Sam, the mail carrier” and got us and some friends free tickets to the show here in Minneapolis at the Target Center. We also got to go meet some of the characters before the show.

Originally we were going to meet Big Bird and Elmo, instead it ended up being an entire company. We had Grover, Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster and Abby. Samantha never cried but she was holding on very tight to me and wouldn’t let me put her down.

Abby was the only one she let touch her (but still clinging to mom)

Jade and Samantha preferred this Elmo we found after the show.
The show was great. It’s set up that Sam the mail carrier has a bunch of postcards and different muppets imagine that they are where their postcards are from to visit whomever sent them. Samantha loved the show too. She’d get down from our lap to dance and do whatever action was suggested. I think the bright colors and constant movement also helped in mesmerizing her. She’d get especially excited whenever Big Bird or Elmo came back on stage. Once she saw them she’d shout “There he is, I found him!”

Getting pictures of the show was a bit of a challenge, and I’m super glad we brought our big camera and not just our little point and clicker. We played with a ton of settings but managed to get some decent shots that now look better by way of small tweaks in photoshop.
