Christmas Break

Christmas break (or any break) in my parents house is generally pretty low-key.  This has some what to do with none of us doing too well with chaos, and then mostly because it’s a bunch of students wanting to crash and zone out in from of the television.  But we all had fun and it was great to spend time with all of my siblings for so long.  Samantha was also spoiled by having 5 devoted aunts and uncles try to be in her "it” circle, her uncles trying to woo her by their iphones which she tried to pack in her backpack on numerous occasions.

My older brother made his mark of being home on Christmas Eve by hanging poor pink panther from the catwalk.  Most everyone coming into the house didn’t say anything other than “Destin must be home”.  Pink Panther remained in this state until my father finally cut him down after everyone went back to Utah.

Here’s a general showing of our days: playing with Sammi, watching TV, playing games, and a Samantha favorite – eating popcorn.

The one event we did have planned was going up to New York City and seeing “Cirque Du Soleil”.  I would recommend NOT going to NYC on the 30th of December.  The crowds were thicker than I’d ever seen and I’m sure it got a lot worse the next day.  We also had some unfortunate luck of making it to Times Square right when police shut it down because of a “suspicious vehicle”.  So 2-3 times the normal amount of tourists being routed AWAY from Times Square.  It was quite the mad house.  The show was cool, though.  Maybe one day I’ll be able to see one in Las Vegas where they have the huge tall auditoriums.  The hulu hooping contortionist and juggling slack-rope walker were my favorite acts.  The “story line” was rather lame and hard to follow, but that’s not why you go to the circus now is it?
