Half a year has gone by since my baby Clara made it here. She’s such a doll of a girl. Most people don’t think she makes any noise (believe me she does). But mostly, she gives you faces.
“Whimper” – I’ve been ignored too long
You’re trying to take a picture of me, so I’m not going to cooperate
A little bit of her smile
I’m having the hardest time capturing her smile. It’s darling, and she gives them out to everyone… except the camera.
The past 2 months she’s worked on putting on the pounds. She’s not nearly as lanky as she was at 4 months. She has rolls in her thighs and they are really cute. (And like every other 2nd time mom, I’m behind on getting her into the doctor, so I don’t really know her stats)
Some things Clara is doing:
Constantly moving. She spins around in circles on her tummy, rolls over from tummy to back and back to tummy as she tries to get things. She even reaches into boxes to pull toys out. (Got a train out of the train box the other day)
Practicing her yoga. She’s pretty good at up-dog. (On your tummy push yourself and thighs off the ground, leaving your feet touching). She sometimes pushes back to her knees. But mostly she just pushes herself backwards.
She can sit, pretty steadily. She’s not 100% and definitely falls when Samantha pushes her at all. (and then Samantha gives her a hug and says “I make all better!”) But she’s also rocking herself, which I think unsteadies her a bit.
She’s not eating. I wish she was eating like her older sister was. She’s started to get up a bit more at night to nurse and I’m feeling famished more often (not to mention tired). But she’s absolutely refusing to eat baby food (or oatmeal, or rice cereal, or cheerios, or puffs…) I keep trying though. One of these days, I know, she’ll just magically like everything. At least last night she only got up once, instead of twice.
Clara is also in a movie right now. We’ve gone to a couple days of filming. Everyone has loved working with her since she’s a pretty mellow and content baby. The most trouble she causes is trying to eat the jewelry or hair of her movie mom. It’s an independent film, so I don’t know what will happen with it… but maybe one day it’ll be on DVD.
Regardless of the more calories I have to eat, and fewer hours of sleep I get, I love this girl. It really is showing that a unique spirit goes into each little body. I love getting to know my Clara.
