Valentine’s Day

Stephen and I went out on Friday night for Valentine’s Day with some friends to Mort’s Delicatessen.  We all had delicious sandwiches made from sirloin, brisket, corned beef or pastrami (it was a Jewish restaurant).  We finished off with carrot cake as they are famous for their carrot cake and cheese cake and I think cheese cake is disgusting.  I don’t really like carrot cake either, but I was more willing to give it a go.  For me, desserts are only good if it has chocolate in it somewhere.  My preferred dessert is generally the “extreme chocolate” or whatever equivalent a restaurant might have.  Maybe this is why I don’t like pies?

For the actual Valentine’s Day we went to church as normal (both Stephen and I teaching our respective age groups), and then had a family dinner over at Stephen’s parents’ house later that afternoon.  Between church and dinner I made my sugar cookies.  Samantha woke up while I was rolling them out and was able (and extremely willing) to help.

When Samantha entered the equation I could no longer only do hearts.  She insisted on doing flowers and moons.  So the pictures have these shapes in them as well.

:) I made that apron for Stephen years ago :) makes me smile to see it on Sammi. I have a very cute apron pattern you could try to adapt for Sammi --

The cookies were yummy! Thanks!
