Tickets are cheaper on Tuesday & Wednesday, so when I realized that Stephen didn’t have class on Monday like he normally did, we decided that he would fly out Tuesday morning and just take Monday off work. This gave us all of Monday to do something as a family. It was a gorgeous day so we decided to go play at Valley Garden State Park, a former DuPont family estate. There is no playground equipment. It’s purely nature with a series of man made ponds that run into a reservoir. The ponds have tadpoles, frogs, snapping turtles, etc.… As kids, my siblings and I used to get very dirty catching different animals and playing in the water. Also, the hills are covered in daffodils at this time of year and it’s always fun to get pictures of small children engulfed in them.

There were little girls with a bunch of equipment that were catching frogs(or toads).
Samantha made friends with them and they let her hold one of their frogs and use their net.
It was a hot day so we hit up Rita’s. Stephen wasn’t there for the first run, and Samantha made great improvements with how to eat an ice-cream cone. She also did a great job sharing with her little sister. Not surprisingly, Clara LOVED soft serve custard.
Stephen left bright and early Tuesday morning, and I spent the day gathering all of our stuff that had been spread far and wide. I left Wednesday, rather relaxed with no last minute run-a-rounds, and excited to be in my own home. At the airport our gate was right by the kids play area so the girls got to play until we had to board. This plane ride was a bit rough, I resorted to Sammi watching movies on the ipod and I let Clara walk a lot in the aisle. We made it home safe and sound and after a few days are finally sleeping better again.
