Stephen finally made it to Delaware on Thursday. Between vacation days resetting in June, and having class on Wednesday night, he couldn’t fly out until that morning. Everyone was excited to see him (especially me and the girls!) and that day we were having family pictures. My mom and I spent a lot of time surfing the web while on the phone with each other looking at outfits. And it all came together well. The color “theme” was coral but it transitioned into the broad spectrum of pink, orange, coral, and orange-red. It all worked, though.
Destin grew out and wore his beard for the family pictures and wedding. He shaved it off the day he left (Sunday). My mom was only mildly surprised. Much to Destin’s delight, Clara was not afraid of him at all and spent a good amount of time playing with him, his beard, and trying to take his iphone.
That evening was the family dinner with all our close friends, family, and Danny’s family. We left the pictures and went directly there so we were a very matchy family. :) It was great to be able to talk to Danny’s mom; and Samantha and Jamie (Danny’s 3 year old brother) played well together even with Sammi being a head taller. Here are a few shots my aunt took that evening: The bottom one is all the men learning how to do the “Haka ka matu” Danny’s dad is Maori and so it’s a big cultural thing. I think when they got over feeling self-conscious they got into it and had a good time. They performed it at the end of the reception.
